Rape, Sexual Assault and Drug charges dismissed on Day 2 of trial before the Brisbane District

Phillips Lawyers

In April 2023, Nick Crawford instructing Scott Lynch of Counsel appeared before the Brisbane District Court for trial of our client who was charged with the above offences.

Our client had been on bail since being charged in 2021. After cross-examination of the complainant and submissions about the strength of the evidence, the Presiding Judge asked the Crown Prosecutor to seek instructions on the continuation of the prosecution.

On Day 2 of the trial, all charges against our client were formally withdrawn by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the jury was discharged.
