Not guilty of sexual assault – Brisbane District Court Trial - April 2023

Phillips Lawyers

Nick Crawford of our office was instructed to appear on behalf of a client before the Caboolture Magistrates Court. He was charged with one count of sexual assault which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.

The matter was committed to the District Court of Queensland at Brisbane for trial. In the lead up to the week of the trial, Mr Crawford and his team along with Damian Walsh of counsel prepared and conferenced with the client multiple times. Across two days, the trial was heard before His Honour Judge Smith. Cross examination of various witnesses proceeded. The jury was sent out on day 2 to deliberate on their verdict.

They returned within 30 minutes with a verdict of not guilty. Our client was acquitted and discharged.
