Alan Phillips of our office represented his client who was charged in relation to a significant drug trafficking operation. She was indicted on trafficking
and possessing kilograms of dangerous drugs over an 18 month period.
A thorough analysis of phone data, witness statements and exhibits was conducted by our offce. An expert report was commissioned regarding the messages and encrypted applications located by police on her phone. Following a review of the expert report, a detailed submission was sent to prosecutors. They accepted they no longer had reasonable prospects of success and the charges were discontinued.
The charges were dropped despite messages relating to significant drug trafficking being located on her phone. Proper preparation, and briefing of expert witnesses may be crucial to your defence.
